Kanava Resort Kasvuvaihe II -project (Growth Phase II)
Development aid has been granted to YL Kapital Oy for the Kanava Resort Kasvuvaihe II (Growth Phase II) project.
The development measures of the project are directed towards the preparation, management, and initiation of the second growth phase of Kanava Resort. Through these actions, the project aims to investigate and plan the necessary information and business development needs that are prerequisites for the realization of further investments in the resort. The objective is to utilize the data and results obtained from the project to make informed decisions regarding the commencement of the second investment phase and to initiate its implementation.
The project’s activities are structured into five work packages: 1) Strategic Growth Analysis: Conducting a comprehensive analysis to identify growth opportunities and strategies for the resort, incl. participating in relevant trips and events that support the strategic growth analysis, facilitating knowledge exchange and networking. 2) Preliminary Plan for Next Growth Phase Investments and Their Alternatives: Developing an initial plan outlining potential investment options for the next phase of growth, including alternative approaches. 3) Cost and Profitability Assessment of Investment Options: Evaluating the financial implications of various investment alternatives to determine their feasibility and profitability. 4) Product Development Enabled by New Investments and Required by International Target Groups: Designing and developing new products and services that are made possible through new investments and cater to the needs of international clientele. 5) Development and Investment Mapping of Digital Systems, Including Preliminary Research on Changes and Opportunities Brought by Artificial Intelligence in Digital Communication for Tourism Business: Assessing and planning the development of digital systems, with a focus on understanding how artificial intelligence can transform digital communication within the tourism sector.
The project duration is from June 16th, 2025, to August 31, 2027.
Puistoniemi Resort -project
Support granted by the Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment of South Savo (Etelä-Savon ELY-keskus)
In support of establishing Kanava Resort, a business grant co-financed by the European Union was sought, which enabled the construction of a new nature tourism destination. The existing services and collaboration networks of the vibrant village of Oravi, along with the region’s larger events and proximity to national parks, provided a strong foundation for the project. The company’s goal is to expand the tourism business in Finland. The grant was allocated for investment and business development., with the aim of meeting the growing international and domestic demand for nature tourism as it recovers from the coronavirus pandemic.
Nine eco-friendly and high-quality holiday homes were built in Puistoniemi, Oravi. The Kanava Resort tourism destination opened in the summer of 2023.
A strong network of collaboration has been established with local tourism operators. The business has had a smooth start, attracting customers from around the world. Kanava Resort has found its place as a nature tourism destination, popular with both domestic and international travelers.
The future of Kanava Resort in the tourism sector looks bright.
